Wireless M2M - the new opportunity for business

For m2m info:

M2M means "machine-to-machine", "machine-to-man" and "man-to-machine" and is to do with the remote monitoring and control of machines.

Using Wireless M2M communications, a vending machine can be installed virtually anywhere but still be connected to a support centre to signal when it is empty, full of change, out of service, what is selling well and at what times. All data to improve the service and reduce operating costs. Many other application areas can also be improved. Assets can be tracked and guarded, refrigerated lorries can be monitored, security alarms can be made more effective, stock control improved. These are just a few examples.

The M2M market is a systems business. It provides the means for connecting remote devices to Internet/intranet, enterprise IT systems and other, proprietary systems - whether those devices themselves are moving or static. By doing so, industrial processes can be automated, widely dispersed parts of an enterprise system can be brought together into an integrated whole and a wide variety of new added value services can be created.

E-principles' two recent complementary reports on the M2M communications market provide a comprehensive assessment of the world market.
